Spolka: Collective Site Maps (workshop)

What does it mean to act collectively when each of us is a carrier of our own perspectives, values, assumptions and also our own language? How is a whole made up of a number of miscellaneous parts? And what compromises does the road to collectivity require? We will look for answers to these questions together with you, through the collective mapping of public spaces. The aim of the workshop is therefore twofold: to reflect together on the collective potential of the premises as well as on the mechanisms that can activate these potentials.

The workshop is led by the collective Spolka. The workshop is open to everyone, regardless of profession, experience or site knowledge. Number of participants is limited, there are 15 places at the workshop. Please register via spolka@spolka.cc.

Spolka is a collective of architects, urbanists and sociologists dealing with the production of space and engaging the public in the collective making of our cities. Focusing on the Central and Eastern Europe their aim is to cultivate the public realm through educational activities, artistic and architectural interventions, and institutional and public dialogue. Spolka’s projects address issues related to the city, public spaces, participation, co-creation, (in)equality and communication. Officially started in 2015, Spolka’s activities are until now mainly centered on Košice, Slovakia, the hometown of its members, who currently live in Berlin, Prague, Brno and Košice.
